As you make your way down the long, heavily treed drive to this rustic log cabin getaway, there will be no doubt in your mind that this is an atmosphere of utter serenity. This immaculate cabin was built in 1999 and purchased by us in 2001. It has been a joy furnishing it with local log furniture and antiques which give it a cozy country charm. You will find it to have all the comforts of home and more; you need only bring yourselves (and perhaps a toothbrush) and sit back and relax as the sounds of nature surround you.

Map Though we appreciate the privacy and peace of vacationing in the woods, our "rustic retreat" is far from "primitive." You will find a 27" television in the living room with satellite programming, as well as a DVD player and an ample selection of family-friendly DVDs. On quiet evenings you may choose to relax to the crackling of a fire in the charming wood burning stove.

A spacious loft with a comfy king-sized bed overlooks the great room. A giant chalet window offers a view of the treetops and a small reading nook, and is the perfect place to hide away and enjoy a view of the property. The adjacent bathroom has a shower/bathtub and is stocked with plenty of fluffy towels as well as a variety of bath salts and oils. For families traveling with children, there is also a futon to accommodate the little ones.

The second bedroom overlooks the side yard and has two single beds which can be pushed together to form a king that sleeps two very comfortably. You will find that all the bedrooms and bathrooms are furnished with linens as well as lots of dresser and closet space. There is a washer and dryer in the laundry room as well as an assortment of games and puzzles for all ages.

Hummingbird A 650 sq. ft. gameroom, located on the lowest of the three level cabin, features an 8-foot competition billiard table, video games, a vintage Pepsi vending machine, and as much fun as you can stand to have indoors! In 2005, we upgraded the Ms. Pac Man machine to a multi-game unit which includes many classic arcade games such as Galaga, Frogger, Millipede, Space Invaders, and more. In 2006, we added a second wall-mounted television with DVD player and satellite programming so you can enjoy a movie or the evening news while play through your racks!

Many guests have appreciated the little details we've taken care of to make your trip easier, such as a dishwasher in the kitchen (installed in '04), a high chair and baby gates, silverware, and fresh linens on all the beds when you arrive. You will find a collection of maps and pamphlets to guide you to local attractions and restaurants, as well as a "mini library" of interesting books to read. We've also provided a large assortment of family-friendly board games to the game room. The list goes on, as you'll see when you arrive.

Since our cabin is situated in the isothermal belt, you will likely be spending a fair amount of time outside the cabin. The huge back deck offers a wonderful view of the property and a fantastic year-round view of the Smoky Mountains. Many guests take advantage of the gas grill and dine on the deck or just enjoy the mountain breeze from the giant log swing beneath the shade of the porch.

Here you can watch a wide variety of birds and woodland wildlife scamper to and from the many feeding stations below.

Adventurous souls can take a short walk down to the spring-fed pond.
