"Thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful cabin. We have had a great time. We have never stayed in a cabin that was so well-stocked. Everything you could possibly want or need is here. Love the way you have decorated. We loved the game room. Charlie came up and greeted us on arrival and talked to us awhile, and showed us some of his pictures. He is such a nice man. You are lucky to have a neighbor like him.
We're leaving a day early but only because we are homesick for our three-year-old. Next time we'll bring her with us. Can't wait. Thanks again."

"We had a wonderful stay during our honeymoon! Thank you for sharing your home with us. We visited Chimney Rock and the Biltmore Estate, both very fun! We explored around town and over in Hendersonville and Asheville. We event went to the really fancy McDonald's, the one with the grand piano, across from Bilmore! My brother made us promise to go since he saw it on the History Channel! We hiked and explored the beautiful land and Mr. Charles took us up to the view site to get some amazing pictures. He also sent us home with two potted plants for my new garden in Alabama. You are blessed with such hospitable neighbors! This was lots of fun - so peaceful and a great honeymoon getaway! We plan to return some day and bring some family along!

"Christmas in your cabin, for our family will never be forgotten. The boys (18, 15, and 13) were amazed at the beauty of the cabin; all mouths were wide open when I opened the door for the first time and there was a Christmas tree and decorations. WOW! Even my husband ('Mr. I won't believe it 'till I see it') was amazed. Your cabin is just perfect! The details, decor and location is like something out of a magazine. We all enjoyed the starry nights, cool weather, deck, quietness, surroundings, birds, and squirrels. Visited with Charlie and his wife, such nice people.
The boys experienced for the first time by snowboarding in Boone at Appalachian Ski Resort. Took a trip to Chimney Rock, Asheville, Forest City, and had a great time at the Gem Mining place down the way (really nice people, wonderful collection of rocks at reasonable prices.) The mining experience was lots of fun.
We've traveled all over and have never felt so welcomed and at home as in your log cabin in the hills. Thank you for sharing - we are sure to be back next time in the spring so we can experience the colors."

Your cabin is incredible. We leave in the morning with mixed emotions -- happy to get home to our animals, yet sad to leave this beautiful place. We have had a wonderful time exploring. We toured and canoed Lake Lure and went to Chimney Rock.
You have made your cabin very homey with the placement of so many items - toiletries that might have been forgotten, a fan in the upstairs bedroom, soap, laundry detergent. We've stayed in quite a few cabins over the years and none have been this comfy. Your pool table is great and Star Wars was fun. The weather has been great. We've been able to have a fire and will have another tonight. It poured rain this morning and a cold front has already moved in with a chance of snow flurries tonight!
We bought you a Yahtzee game. We love it and hope that others will enjoy it. Almost forgot - my boys love your comfortable leather furniture and let me know that they would love to have some in our own home. No can do - we have a lively indoor Golden Retriever and two cats who would shred it in no time.
I hope that you and Ryan enjoy this cabin for many, many years."

"The beauty and serenity of the cabin and property goes without saying! What a peaceful retreat from the daily rigors of life.
Chimney Rock was a great place for hiking and spectacular views. The boat trip on Lake Lure was relaxing as well as educational. Linville Falls offered moderate hiking trails with specific points where there are bird's eye views of waterfalls. About an hour's drive to Asheville is the historic Biltmore House. It was stunning! Our teens even enjoyed the tour. (Hint - the self-guided audio tour is a must.)
We went in tubes down the Broad River. Our kids enjoyed this and the Ferguson game room above all... we had a truly enjoyable time."

"This cabin can't be beat for comfort and serenity - the perfect place for a truly relaxing vacation. We enjoyed all of the activities mentioned by other guests - Chimney Rock, Lake Lure tour, horesback riding, Larkin's, Laura's, Cajun Pig, Blue Ridge Parkway, Waynesville, Mt. Pisgah (great restaurant there) - lots of rest, as well; loved being 'away from it all.' Cool enough several days to turn off the a/c and raise the windows. Heard a bobcat at 1:00 AM!! Loved meeting Charlie (mayor of Hidden Hidden Hills) and his wife. One embarassing event!... thought I'd locked my keys in the trunk - called a deputy who got the car unlocked... no keys in the trunk... they were in a bag in the house!! So embarassed, but the deputy was very kind and gracious! The children ages 4 and 7 were here for two days and loved the deck. "We had a wonderful, relaxing time at your cabin. We loved Hidden Hills and will definitely be back. We went to Chimney Rock and enjoyed lunch on the river. We also drove to Grandfather mountain and walked across the mile high bridge. Can't wait to get the pictures back. We highly recommend Linville Falls. The men enjoyed golfing at your local course. The girls played cards and liked the swing. We didn't get to see any animals other than the squirrels and hummingbirds on the deck. Lake Lure is absolutely beautiful; took the cruise. The Cajun Pig was delicious and has a great view!

"It is amazing how wonderful a house can be, especially this one! We had a WONDERFUL fun-filled week FULL of wonderful activities! Like... horseback riding, boating, and lots of others! Your neighbor Mr. Charlie is VERY sweet! He made us comfortable and brought us things like peaches, and plums! (very yummy) We also bought some honey (very good!) We had a wonderful time as a family playing pool and arcade games. The children learned all about pool, and had a ball! "Can't believe it's Friday morning and time to go already. My wife and I love your cabin and we now have lots of ideas for our own someday. This was our first time in the area so we did it all... Chimney Rock (the upper hike was incredible,) Biltmore, Lake Lure tours, Waterfall Hikes, Horseback riding and more. We took a drive by the new cabin. Looks like a great place, we may need to stay there sometime. We looked at many log cabins and homesites while here and may be buying something ourselves. We love the area, especially Lake Lure... hope to get something close by.

"Thanks for a great honeymoon in your cabin! We had a great, relaxing time. Nights were a little chilly, so the stove got quite a workout! (But we still used the grill!)
Chimney Rock Park was a fun day. Wear sneakers, and enjoy those views! We also recommend touring the Biltmore Estate... and the winery! Definitely the highlight of my day, and I'm not usually a wine drinker. We bought two bottles and one bottle of champagne. That definitely is an all-day trip (check out the gardens also.)
We also drove the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Boone. Hint: get gas for the car first. Take a picnic and enjoy the drive! We also spent a day relaxing with a quick afternoon trip to the Broad River Gem Mining Company. It actually was a lot of fun! We felt like a couple of big kids panning for gems and 'digging' for fossils! It was a great trip... hope to come back sometime! P.S. I beat Matt at our 5-day pool championship... 7 to 5! Ha ha ha!"

We had lots of fun in the area - went shopping and hiking at Chimney Rock, took the boat tour at Lake Lure, went hiking at Linville Falls and visited the caverns. Drove down the Blue Ridge Parkway (the views were spectacular) and on our last day we went gem mining and had a picnic at Pearson's Falls (highly recommended.!) At the end of the day it was nice to have such a great place to come back to and relax. Thanks again for letting honeymoon here and we hope to return for our anniversaries!"

Our children have really enjoyed themselves at the Beach at Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and horseback riding at the Riverbend Riding Stables. They also had a ball here in the gameroom. What a great idea! The cabin is so beautiful, we love the decor and the furniture.

"We had a great week at your cabin! Everything was very nice. Loved sitting on the deck in the swing just relaxing. We hiked around the property and saw a couple of deer. The dogwoods at your cabin are starting to bloom and will be just gorgeous in a few more days - wish we could stay long enough to see them.
We went to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock and did some hiking there. Also took our son to the nearby gem-mining place where he hunted for gems and fossils. He loved it! On our last day we drove up to Blowing Rock and stopped at Linville Caverns on the way. My son fished a while for trout, neat place. Had a great lunch at the Canyons restaurant and then finally drove back to the cabin. What a nice place to return to after a long day of sightseeing. It is so peaceful and beautiful here.
My son says we'll definitely be back! He loved it here. We all had a great time.!

"Thank you for the use of your cabin. We had a wonderful time and the boys (ages 3 and 4 years) enjoyed the game room, watching the deer and the wild turkeys, especially the Tom.
We visited Chimney Rock Park where the boys loved the idea of 'climbing a mountain.' The height was a challenge for me (wife) but overall I'd say that we had a good day despite the rain. We both look forward to future visits. Thank you again for helping us have a much needed family retreat!"

"We are so glad we found you on the internet. Coming up here is just what the doctor ordered! The peace and quiet that surrounded us was soothing to both body and mind. How refreshing it was to be out of South Florida for the holidays. This morning's outside temperature was 22 degrees, then warming up to a perfect 45 degrees.
The accomodations you provided exceeded our expectations by far. Your furnishings are quite unique. I wish we would have had time to visit the stores that made them. Maybe next time! The little 'added touches' here and there didn't go unnoticed.
Jerry and our three daughters have never seen mountains before so you can imagine how much it meant to us to be able to walk out on the deck and admire them whenever we wanted to. One morning my 8-year-old and I were on the deck and saw three deer in the woods, what a moment to share with her! It was so fun to see them marching through the leaves. We had a blast picking up different colored and shaped cones, since we can't do this in Florida.
Without the light pollution of the big city, we were able to see all the stars! We'd forgotten how many there are!
This cabin is absolutely absolutely beautiful! We have never stayed in a log cabin before. We like the country comfort of it all. It's been years since my husband and I played pool. What a treat!

"We had a great visit. Cabin is better than we could have hoped. Weather was ideal - cold (20's-40's) and clear (incredible stars) but a little windy at the end. The wood stove got a good workout.
Enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner at the Woodfield Inn in Flat Rock. Staggering buffet (prime rib, turkey, ham, salmon, duck, homemade rolls, salad, more) in an historic setting. We way way too much.
We tried to hike all that food off Friday, at John's Rock & Cat Gap, near the Davidson R. campgrounds in Pisgah National Forest, west of Hendersonville. Perfect day, nice trails. Dinner in Hendersonville, and then the Mast General Store, of course.
Saturday was warmer, so we headed up to Mt. Mitchell. Breathtaking. Clearest views I've ever seen up there. Hiked to Mt. Craig and back, then made our way to Black Mountain for dinner, etc.
Enjoyed billiards and video games. Andrew (age 15) checked out your DVDs and CDs and decreed that "They have pretty good taste." Meg (age 10) liked the wooden game set and Scattergories.
Loved the cabin, furnishings, little touches... thanks alot, and I know some other folks who'd be interested in visiting here."

"Dear Ryan and Shelly: we enjoyed your cabin these few days. Solid rain about every day that we were here but it was enjoyable - especially listening to the rain on the tin roof. I needed a vacation away from everything - this was perfect. My seventeen year old son taught me how to play pool (it was entertaining itself just to watch me). It was wonderful to spend quality time with my son in this beautiful log cabin. We spent relaxing moments watching DVDs together.
We had a cookout with two other couples that we were close to when living in NC - nothin' like good food and great friends.
Your neighbor stopped by and called often. He was so nice and helpful. He is the ideal neighbor to have.
The leaves are at the peak now - the air smells so good with the fresh rain. Jeremiah (my son) and I did the tour on Lake Lure (highly recommended). We also had dinner at Laura's House (by Chimney Park entrance) - they have a great country home-style layout.

"It's our last day and we are so very sad to that it is time to go. What a fabulous time we have had here in Hickory Nut Gorge! We made it to Larkin's for the boat parade Saturday night. The restaurant was booked so we ate down in the bar. The food was good and the boat parade was fun to watch. After dinner we drove down to the 'beach' and caught the fireworks, which were very impressive!
We have had such a great time at the cabin. It is a beautiful vacation getaway with tons of stuff to do. We hiked all over the property. We played pool every night until the sun came up. (I'm exaggerating, but close. :))
We cooked almost every night and enjoyed the late evenings. To sum it all up we LOVE it and hope to return next year.
Your neighbor was so very sweet to us our first morning here. We wish we would have had more time to spend with him, but we plan on seeing him again.

Also we left a wooden game puzzle for your guests to enjoy trying to figure out. I would like to let your guests know some of the things we did while here. We went and saw Chimney Rock which was great, you will really enjoy it. We also went and saw Linville Falls which was just beautiful. It's a 'have-to-see.' Also while at Linville Falls you must see the Linville Caverns, too.
We really wanted to see Grandfather Mountain but when we got there it was too foggy to see, so we plan to see it next time. We also went sight-seeing at Lake Lure and shopping in all their little shops. It was great over all!"
