What's New... ... as of August, 2003
This is my "first" newsletter as the male half of the Shelly and Ryan team. I told Shelly I'd like to write this newsletter as we needed a little 'manly' perspective on things!
We have just returned from a pleasant few days at the Cabin. The weather has been lovely – big, beautiful blue skies, occasional rain, but a little on the warm side during the afternoon!
Lake Lure is hopping. The Beach at Lake Lure and the Marina seem to be staying plenty busy. I am always struck by how many families we see enjoying themselves at Lake Lure. It really seems to be a perfect family vacation destination.
We are excited as October comes upon us. The changing of the leaves is sure to be spectacular. We will be posting more information about the season as we get it from the Dept. of Tourism. We noticed last year that late October was the height of the leaf season, but all of October and part of November are very beautiful with fiery reds, oranges, and yellows bursting from the trees. Truth be told there's no time of year we don't love the weather in Rutherfordton and Lake Lure.
We have been working to steadily improve the Cabin. Guests who return to the Cabin will find some new decorations and features. On the not-so-exciting-but-necessary side, we have had extra rock laid on our driveway because of the heavy rains this year. We are also hoping to stock the pond with fish in the next few months. Shelly is pushing for a gazebo and dock down by the pond – we'll see! We are also planning to top the trees in the back yard before the summer season is over to open a beautiful YEAR-ROUND view to the Gorge.
Our new cabin... !
There are two very exciting features of the new cabin. The first is the fact that it is literally just three minutes' drive from the Lake! The second is the VIEW! Wait 'till you see it! Shelly and I found this cabin, looked at each other, nodded, and said, "This is it!"
The new cabin (we're calling it "Cabin on SilverTree Ridge," or the "SilverTree Cabin" for short) is finished and ready! We're working on a new website for the SilverTree Cabin, but in the meantime we wanted to make photos available ASAP. We are quite proud of it - it's truly beautiful. Please have a look at the pictures and let us know what you think.
Hope everyone is happy, healthy, and having a great hair day!
