What's New... ... as of September, 2004
Hello again everyone! It has been a busy summer for both of our North Carolina cabins. We've heard many good reports of family fun at (and on) Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Linville Caverns, the Biltmore Estate, Asheville, and the entire western North Carolina region.
We need reports from our friends of what's going on, because we had a 4 month hiatus during which we were unable to visit the cabins... the reason is to your right - please meet the newest (and most attractive) member of the Ferguson family, Laurel Cade! Laurel was born May 11 at 8:18PM, clocking in at a full 9 pounds and 15 ounces!
This photo was taken at Grandpa's Apples down the way from the cabin. It's apple season in NC and we went to pick some delicious locally grown apples. Laurel enjoyed the trip, as you can see. It was her first visit to the North Carolina and the mountains seemed to suit this Florida baby just fine!
We've been able to have some improvements made to the cabin despite our absence. The first will be appreciated by our guests arriving in the evenings - a motion sensing floodlight which makes unloading and settling into the cabin that much easier! We've also had two loads of gravel applied to the driveway thanks to the heavy rains of late. Getting in and out should be easier!
Solar guide lights now adorn the entrance driveway and will also help during night-time arrivals.
Last but not certainly not least, the cabin now sports a fresh coat of wood stain... and we have removed all of the insects that have been hiding out up and near the dormers, finally! Some of those buggers have been persistent despite all efforts to date. We think they're gone for good.
We're entering what is arguably the most beautiful time of year to stay in Lake Lure - leaf season! We'll be sure to get some pictures of that for the next update.
Stay happy, stay healthy, and take care of each other!
