What's New... ... as of December, 2005
Hello friends, to another edition of our Cabin Newsletter!
We spent a lovely "half-week" at the cabin in December. The cool winds and crisp blue skies of winter prevailed on all but one of our days. Shelly and I provisioned both cabins for our Christmas guests (including Christmas tree and decorations!) and attended to a number of small fixup items.
Our biggest news this year is that we have cleared a view west of the cabin giving a clear sighting of Hickory Nut Gorge, year-round! A patch of dying trees needed to go, and with their fall an incredible view of Chimney Rock opened up. On a clear day, you can make out the Chimney and you might even see the flag flying at its peak! We are sure you'll love the new view. Have a gander. Can you find Chimney Rock in the photo at right? :)
Thanks to our friendly caretaker Charlie, the road has been repacked with rock, as well as the driveway loop. This is a semi-yearly ritual, but it makes access to the cabin a little easier when the roads are wet. We'd like to remind everyone about our seasonal special rates we run from January 1st through March 15th. This is a great time of year in Lake Lure; the area is quiet, and the cabin is cozy and warm with the wood-burning stove providing all the heat you'd ever need. If you're looking to sneak away and have some peaceful days, this is a great time to do it. Contact Shelly for more details.
We have enjoyed another wonderful season hosting our friends and guests at Cabin in Hidden Hills and Cabin on Silvertree Ridge. We can't wait to hear from you again. Happy New Year to all!
